Jim graduated from Old Dominion University with a B.S in Science and a Masters degree in Physical Therapy. He has 18 years of experience rehabbing/training/coaching individuals of all ages in body mechanics and exercise. Jim works full time, as an orthopedic physical therapist, for Orthopedic Spine Center. One of the most esteemed orthopedic practices on the east coast. He has been active in sports all his life which include playing football in college, Competitive men’s softball, Mountain climbing, volleyball, and Mountain biking. He is always up for a challenge. One of Jim's biggest accomplishments is climbing the highest mountain in North America, 20,320ft. Mt. Mckinleyin Alaska. Jim has been active in the CrossFit community the past 2 years. He is very dedicated to helping people of all ages improve their quality of life, whether it is through coaching the methodology of CrossFit or rehabilitating an injury. Jim takes great pride in helping others reach a higher level of functional fitness and independence through hard work and determination.

Dianne graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelors of Science in Business Finance and Communications. She also holds her Series 6, 63, 26 and 7 investment licenses. She has worked with American Funds Investment Company for more than 17 years as a National Accounts Manager. Dianne left the financial industry to pursue spreading the word about CrossFit and how thru CrossFit you can/will live a bigger and better life. Dianne’s also played competitive beach volleyball for over 17 years and her favorite part of beach volleyball is divin’ in the sand to get that pass you think is out of reach! In 2007, Dianne ruptured a disc diving for one of those balls and thought her volleyball career was abruptly shortened. Then she met CrossFit. CrossFit has allowed her strengthen her body to get back playing beach volleyball, perform the CrossFit workouts at high intensity as well as building noticeable amount of flexibility. She enjoys coaching all levels of athletes, those that have not been active lately as well as those that are at higher levels of fitness. She loves sharing what she’s found in CrossFit with others to help them reach their personal fitness goals and have a bigger, fuller, better life.

Who we are.

CrossFitOP is a 6,000 sq/ft. fitness coaching facility that will be equipped with men's and women's changing area, located in the Oyster Point West area of Newport News, VA. We offer group and individual coaching, utilizing the CrossFit methodology. CrossFit workouts are comprised of constantly varied functional movements (like pushing, pulling, squatting, lifting, running) executed at high intensity.

What we do.

So what does that really mean? It means that at CrossFitOP you will not find rows of stationary bikes and weight machines. Instead you will find pull-up bars, kettlebells, barbells and wide open space for squatting, running, jumping, climbing, lifting and throwing – moving your body the way it is meant to be moved. It means that all your workouts will be comprised of exercises that mimic movements performed in day-to-day life or sport. You would never bicep curl your child to pick them up, so why would you do it in the gym? We focus on improving functional movements that are necessary and common in your daily activities.


It also means that you will never get bored. With our constantly varied programming you will rarely do the same workout twice in any given year. You will never have to program your own workouts or spend hours in the gym. Instead, each day a workout will be provided for you that is scalable to suit your fitness level. And because our workouts are rarely longer than 40 minutes they can fit into even the busiest schedules.


Our fitness programming aims to improve your capacity in ten recognized fitness domains cardio-respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. The result is comprehensive physical fitness and restored vitality.
